Dear Learned Professional

 

Background: This refers to HRQC 11 dated 7.8.2023 (in trail, blue, italic and after double line) about Islamabad Minimum Wages increased.

 

Updated Commentary: Further to KQU 2345 dated 5.8.2023, being an Important matter, we would inform you that Employees’ Old age Benefits Institution (EOBI) wrote a Letter EOBI/RO/ISB/2023/14563 dated 4.8.2023 (Attachment 12.1) to the Employers in Islamabad regarding Amendments in the Minimum Wages for Unskilled Workers Ordinance (HRQC 11 in trail refers). The Letter is with reference to Notification ADLW 8(20)/ICT/2021-325, dated 31.7.2023 (Attachment 12.2) in respect of the subject captioned, by the Worthy Chief Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory.

 

2.   According to the apprised Notification, the minimum wages for unskilled workers have been revised with effect from 1.7.2023 and your kind-self is requested to pay the difference in contribution in the following manner:

 

Employer Contribution

Employee Contribution

5% of Minimum Wages

1% of Minimum Wages

Rs. 1,600 per insured person per month with effect from 1.7.2023 and onwards (Revised Minimum Wages at Rs. 32,000 instead of Rs. 25,000)

Rs. 320 per insured person per month with effect from 1.7.2023 and onwards (Revised Minimum Wages at Rs. 32,000 instead of Rs. 25,000)

Further to KQU 2339 dated 2.8.2023, as per reliable sources, we would inform you that the Chief Commissioner Directorate of Industries & Labour Welfare, Islamabad vide Notification No. ADLW 8(20)-ICT/2021-325 dated 31.7.2023 (Attachment 11.1) fixed the minimum monthly wages of un-skilled and Juvenile Workers in all industrial / commercial establishment in­ Islamabad Capital Territory.

 

2.   The schedule of wages is tabulated below:

3.   The above Minimum Monthly Wages are retrospectively applicable from 1.7.2023 as the Notification is dated 31.7.2023 and the Notification is neither publicly available on any website nor in any newspaper as checked by our relevant team members twice a day over 100 websites (for KQU and DNVC) also checked for these purposes too.
